Why Transfer Students Love Boston More

iStock_000019920126_MediumI personally have met countless of college students who transferred into a Boston school or somewhere very close, after being away for a year, or even just a half a year. Every time I ask them if it was the right choice, they are quick to answer with a resounding yes. Boston is obviously the best city in the country, and these transfer students know it. This is why transfer students in Boston take advantage of the city more than others:

  1. They’ve come from a school in the middle of nowhere: Seeing all of the restaurants, shops, concerts, sports events, and surrounding attractions the city of Boston has to offer, it is no wonder that so many kids transfer into the city of Boston and immediately fall in love with the place. Even though some of these schools may not hold the “green campusy-vibe” they are used to, with so much greenery in Boston and how most of the universities are still able to set up beautiful quads and relaxing space, it does not seem like they’ve been dropped in the middle of a concrete city.
  2. More job opportunities right at their doorstep: When coming from a school anywhere not in a major city, there are really only good jobs and internships in the city closest to them, or in Boston, New York or Chicago. For those who go to school in Boston, their dream job could just be one T stop away from their dorm. This takes the stress and hassle out of commutes, where to live, and the urge to settle for a job that may not be ideal.
  3. The people are different: Some may call them “massholes”, but that dry, funny sense of humor is what makes Boston unique and special. The people that are in Boston genuinely want to be there, and I have never met anyone that does not feel pride in their city, the sports teams, and the culture. Not only that, but usually people living in the city are a little more street savvy, because they have to be in order to make it and get around in a timely and productive fashion. College students that are stuck in a small campus bubble do not share the same set of skills usually as Boston students.

Don’t get me wrong, every college student and young professional I have met loves the city of Boston and has a great amount of pride, but I have noticed that transfer students really appreciate the city for all it is worth. If you’re a transfer student new to Boston, welcome to the best city on earth, and let us help you find your spot!
